ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute today welcomed the Financial Reporting Council’s 2020 review of governance reporting.

The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland has today published guidance on the role of lead charity trustees in England and Wales. The guidance reaffirms the importance of collective responsibility and highlights certain considerations charities should take into account when appointing a lead trustee. It also provides a specimen lead trustee role description to help charities with effective governance practice in this area.

Professional bodies face several governance challenges, including maintaining transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership. The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI) is the leading authority on governance, offering expert advice and training to professional bodies and associations on key areas.

The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland has appointed Conn Cleary to the role of Regional Development Manager, Ireland. He succeeds John Burns who recently retired after several years in the position.

According to a poll by ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute and governance recruitment specialist The Core Partnership, 73% of companies think that there should be more transparent reporting and disclosures about environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters. Just 16% of organisations polled are against this and an additional 11% are unsure.
