Peterborough-based North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust had double cause for celebration last night when the Trust’s Deputy Company Secretary Paul Denton was named Governance Professional of the Year and the Trust picked up the award for Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year at ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute’s 2020 Awards.

The chief executive of The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI) has today called for greater appreciation of those working in health sector governance believing that their contribution to the NHS does not always get the acknowledgment that it deserves.

Recent research indicates that charity boards are reporting ESG matters but as discrete parts of good governance rather than considering them holistically.

The Chartered Governance Institute and Bates Wells have today published guidance around the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 which could provide some help to charities, social enterprises and mutuals in financial difficulty. A separate piece of guidance about holding general meetings during the current pandemic has also been published.

We now look at how ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) reporting is linked to modern slavery.

Assuming the FCA and PRA’s proposals move forward given the government’s decision to pause new regulations for a non-financial reporting review, the Institute has responded to the consultation.

Dr. Sam De Silva, Partner at CMS, won the 2021 CGIUKI Award for Governance Champion of the Year in recognition of his work representing the British Standards Institute as the ISO Working Group Co-Convenor for ISO 31022.
